Supporting Energy Entrepreneurs: Sharing Business Incubation Experience

During this webinar, renewable energy entrepreneurs and business incubators in South Asia and East Africa had the chance to exchange perspectives and build on shared experiences.

During the past year, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the UK Department for International Development (DFID) – Knowledge Partnership Programme have supported a knowledge-sharing programme between renewable energy business incubators and entrepreneurs in those regions. IRENA implemented the programme in cooperation with two of India’s leading business incubators: the Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (part of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad) and the SELCO Incubation Centre.

The webinar, hosted by IRENA, allowed participants to discuss their progress with supporting renewable energy entrepreneurship in their respective regions, particularly through localised support models. The role and importance of mentoring in enterprise development was also considered.

The webinar will be of interest to anyone dedicated to energy entrepreneurship development, including incubators, accelerators and those passionate about driving change through social businesses.
